Supreme Court Bail – Serious Drug and Weapon Charges

Phillips Lawyers

Updated: Sep 7, 2023

On the 26th of May 2023, Alan Phillips of our office appeared before the Brisbane Supreme Court. He made a successful application for bail on behalf of his client who has been charged with multiple weapon and drug offences.

The client had been on bail and continued offending, ultimately being charged with significant drug offences. He was also charged with possessing a short firearm in a public place, an offence carrying a mandatory one-year actual custody upon conviction. He was remanded in custody in the Magistrates Court. He then engaged Alan Phillips of our office to act in a Supreme Court bail application.

Our client instructed he would be prepared to attend a rehabilitation centre to address his struggles with a drug addiction. Preparations were made with Victory House rehabilitation located on the Gold Coast for the client to attend if granted bail. Multiple conditions including residential, curfew, contact, weapon and drug, travel and phone conditions were proposed to the court.

Justice Crowley heard the application and upon considering the imposed conditions, our client's extensive criminal history and delays with the progression of his court matters, bail was granted.
